So 'Orgy of the Dead' finished up this weekend, it's sort of a happy/sad thing in my mind. Happy because I get to sleep more and actually hang out with people but sad because I'm going to miss the gore, the fun times backstage, and the thrill of preforming every night. Melody tells me next year though we're hoping to do a 2 week run, wowza!
With Orgy all done though it also means I can concentrate on Halloween stuff, which means costumes, pumpkins, and glitter skulls! My weekly schedule is filling out pretty fast and after looking at it I'm really happy I took the 30th and the 2nd off from work. See? -Monday/Tonight: the Ghost Train (hooray for free tickets!) -Tuesday: costume work -Wednesday: practice for the next Taboo Revue (out with one show, onto the next!) -Thursday: David Bowie Ball at Celebrities -Friday: Evil Dead the Musical and my boyfriend's birthday -Saturday: Halloween Party -Sunday: My Birthday Bitches! :) -Monday: SLEEP.
Good times ahead people. Good and Spooooooooooooky times.

JOYGASM! Heard back from Melody, I get to be part of the Screaming Chicken's ORGY OF THE DEAD this year!!!!! Seriously this is huge for me, I saw the show last year and just fell in LOVE with it. It was about then that I was like "I want to join THIS troupe." Check out an old interview (from 2006) with Norm and Melody about the production to get a better idea of the show.
I'm so fucking excited!!

Phew. So the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival has come and gone and I am exhausted, and compared to some people I had it easy.(I was only in three events, a musical, a fashion show and the best of Taboo Revue) To mark the end of the festival there was the fabulous Red Carpet Gala, in which everyone got dressed up all fancy and awards were given out. I wound up being a sweeper for the evening which was both good and bad, good because I got to talk to some of the out of town performers but bad because I was wearing very high heels and boy were my feet sore the next day. After the award ceremony we all went back to The Dollhouse and partied till morning, it was the most fun I've had in quite some time. The DJ was wicked, playing mostly oldies and rockabilly with a few 80's hits. Needless to say I crept home very sweaty and covered in glitter. :)
Now it's time to rest, work my regular work and hopefully get back into my own art. I've got a few things planned such as a few posters for the Screaming Chickens, Horror Movie Monster pin-up girls, and B-Movie Burlesque post cards. Neato completo yip yayeee.

You know you're a Twin Peaks nerd when you set your phone background to a cup of coffee and have the greeting message say "Diane..." (I originally wanted 'Damn FINE cup of coffee' but it was too long)
and I am SO going to look and see if Virgin has the Twin Peaks theme as a ringtone. Moohoohahaa.
[edit: They had one. I bought it. AHAHAHAAaaaaah I'm so lame. XD]

So I had my surgery and I think I did pretty good.I had my wisdom teeth taken out a while back but somehow that isn't as nerve racking as going to a hospital, getting dressed in those funny gowns (the make you take off your underwear. WTF??) and then being taken into an operating room where everyone is in masks except you and then they drug you and cut open your head. I remember making zoom noises on the stretcher on my way to the operation room and giggling a lot when they started to drug me so I think I managed to stay in pretty high spirits, I didn't cry or freak out before hand and afterwards I was waaaay too sore and tired to do anything but think three things. 1.)Ow. ow owow ow. 2.)Fuck I'm thirsty and my throat hurts. 3.)Christ I need to pee.
I had some sort of weird dream while I was under though and I wish I could remember more of it, I vaugely remember a husky blonde woman in pink robes and I think she was singing. ??
The taxi ride home was fun as the guy repeatedly tried to run red lights and groped at his crotch, even in my drugged out state I could tell Mom wanted to kill him. Other things to note were the removal of my bandages, which was disgusting. I mean seriously, I don't ever really want to see that much blood stained stuff coming off my head ever again. XP
Mom and Mandy were and truly are THE BEST, they have babied me for the past four days and I am forever grateful that I had them with me. *looooooooooves them so so much* I also loves my friends as they've sent me little support notes which has made me smile. :)
I have to check in with my doctors on Monday where they will remove the cotton in my ear and stitching tape, I also will ask for a more detailed explanation as to what happened during the surgery. I'm not too worried as when Mom talked to them on Tuesday they said everything went 'beautifully'. So Hurrah! I am on the mend. Slowly but surely.

I've gotten like seven emails in a week or so offering me free trials on Viagra and Cialis. I think the internets is trying to tell me something.
................
Screw you internet! My penis stays rock hard for hours!!!
In other news I have surgery on Monday, I am both totally nervous/scared about it as well as relieved that it's finally happening. I really do want this thing in my head to be taken out and I want to see if I'll get any hearing back but at the same time I'm terrified of the risks even if the doctor said they are very very small. Send me good ear vibes!!

Aaaaaaaaaargh I'm sick of being sick! I've had this stupid sore throat since Monday, I want it gone! GONE I SAY! To top it all off it's a gorgeous day outside, clear and sunny with a cool crisp wind and I dare not go outside in the fear of making this stupid cold worse. ARG.

So despite being a tad sick (my throat has been sore the past few days) last night I was the raffle girl at the 'Girl's On Top' show, which means I got to get all prettied up and annoy people with questions like 'would you like to buy some raffle tickets'? *insert batting eyelashes here* The show was really good, the girls were lots of fun but I feel sort of bad because there wasn't a huge crowd there and we didn't make much money. The reason why this is kind of a bummer is that 'Girl's On Top' donates like all their money to charities for abused women/sex trade workers, they did a final routine that was dedicated to all the women who have been killed or commited suicide and it nearly brought tears to my eyes. It was lovely. But some people just wouldn't donate anything, not even five bucks. *sigh*

Yesterday I had my very first photo shoot with the one and only Shimona Henry, and holy crap was it ever fun! Mom was ever so sweet and gave me a ride into White Rock for it and while her and Mandy walked around town I got to pose and act like a dork for about 5 hours. The result is going to be a cd of about 15 touched up photos for me to cherish, and cherish I will because Shimona is amazing! If you don't believe me then check out the 'portfolio' section on her website and you'll get an idea of what the shoot was like.
Friday was the NEW Taboo Revue at the Wise Hall and according to the crowd it was our best one yet: we had songs about masturbation, anal sex, dancing geishas, a giant group number, a banana circle jerk and of course my beach party creature number. The pictures from the show are fabulous and really catch the energy of it all, both on stage and behind. I'm already looking forward to January's show. :)
Now in the middle of all this fun and merriment I had to take a small trip to the hospital to see my ear doctor about what they're going to do about my right ear, after many tests and talks it turns out I'll have to have surgery in February. It's same day surgery but it's still kind of freaky as they will be cutting open my head and drilling part of my bone to clear the area, the risks included are death (anytime they use a general anaesthesia they tell you there's a chance you could die during it), total loss of hearing in that ear, and having half my face paralyzed. Wheeee. I'm going to try and not worry about these risks too much as they are pretty slim, I'm sure I'll freak out right before the surgery but we'll deal with that when the time comes right? Right.

So the other night after watching an entire disk of Degrassi Jr. High episodes me and Mandy decided to re-arrange my entire bedroom, of course like most the women in my family we only realised after we had finished that it was nearly one in the morning. It looks a lot nicer I think, my feet are no longer pointing out my doorway and the whole room looks more...cozy.
I'm unemployed at the moment and enjoying every second of it, I'm sure I'll start to worry about bills at the end of the month but for now I am more than happy to sit around on my ass and work on costumes, hair clips and artwork. Poor Mandy does not have the same luxury, she's doing part three of her resume sweep today and I might tag for support. And lunch. :)
Random linkage: Movies you shouldn't have watched with your parents

These past few weeks have been extra stressful what with work so when I managed to leave work at noon yesterday the first thing I did was call Mandy and meet her downtown to do some Halloween shopping. You see, getting Halloween supplies isn't just one big shop, oh no, you have to build up your purchases. This helps prolong the holiday spirit as well as not making you go broke. Yesterday we bought some supplies for the party and then it was on to the fabric store where we fought the hordes of children (one stuck a mangled arm in my face so Mandy promptly hit him in the head with the roll of fabric she was holding) and adults who were acting like children to aquire the supplies to make our Halloween costumes. Having given up on the carnivale idea me and Mandy have decided on smaller yet just as cool costumes, it's no longer a group costume but a small trio. I just hope I can sew the damn things correctly.
Today I will be going to a costume shop on Main, not for our costumes but for my next burlesque show. I'm doing a beach party/creature sort of thing and I need a creature from the black lagoon mask or something that looks like it. Here are my inspirations: The song for the dance number Evil Bastard's costume
